Version 5 NASM Textbook Study Guide | Chapter 7 Navigating the Professional Fitness Environment pg. 216

  • Most of this chapter is common sense and should make perfect sense with one read-through. I will only highlight what is most likely to be tested over(expect no more than 2-3 questions from this entire chapter).

  • Demographics – statistical data related to the population while Psychographics are the personalities, values, opinions, interest, and lifestyles of people.
  • Top-line – Overall sales, or revenue. It’s not profit, it’s revenue. So if it costs $50 to train for an hour and you pay the trainer $20, the top line is $50. The profit would be $30.
  • Ancillary revenue – Snacks, drinks, t-shirts. Aimed more toward member retention than increasing profit.

  • It’s all very common sense. If you’d like to feel more confident on this chapter study page 235 on the facility comparison chart. That is likely where any questions about this chapter will come from.

Want to travel and have adventures for a living?

In 2016 I spent 205 days hiking all 2,189 miles of the Appalachian Trail. I haven't had a "real job" since 2015.

In 2018 I will be biking ~4,000 miles and hiking the CDT(2,800 miles). Anyone can create this kind of freedom in their lives.
